Food & Diet
Both a full-time and part-time chef ensure that healthy and balanced meal choices are always available and prepared on-site. Meals can also be tailored to fit any dietary requirements. The menu is rotated seasonally. Fresh food arrives throughout the week and is provided locally through the Oscar Hospitality Program.
Activities & Excursions
A lifestyle and leisure team organises activities that happen 7 days a week. This is something that isn’t often found in other aged care facilities. Outings for lunch or just a drive are encouraged, especially if residents’ family would like to take them. Once a month, transportation is hired to accommodate a larger number of people for excursions nearby. On Fridays, there’s Happy Hour with music in the afternoon.
Entering aged care can present a significant lifestyle change for some people and may seem complicated. So before becoming a Tyler Village resident, it is important you and your loved ones make the best decisions regarding your aged care. For prospective residents, we’ve detailed the key steps involved here.
Basic Daily Fee
A basic daily fee is used to contribute towards your day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling. It is part of the overall fees you pay towards your care.
The basic daily fee increases on 20 March and 20 September each year in line with changes to the Age Pension.
The basic daily fee is 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension. From 20 March 2022 to 19 September 2022 the basic daily fee will be:
$54.69 per day
This amount is indexed with the age pension. This applies even if you are a member of a couple.
Means-tested Care Fee
A contribution to care fee is paid to the federal government where a person is in a financial position to do so. The cost (if any) of a person’s Contribution to Care Fee is dependent on their financial situation and is determined by the government. Please note the government have a lifetime cap on this fee.
