Basic Daily Fee
A daily care fee is used to contribute towards your day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling. It is part of the overall fees you pay towards your care. The daily care fee increases on 20 March and 20 September each year in line with changes to the Age Pension.
The basic daily fee is 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension. From 20 March 2018, the single rate of the basic age pension is $826.20 per fortnight, making the basic daily fee (from 20 March to 19 September 2018):
$50.16 per day; or
$702.24 per fortnight.
This amount is indexed with the age pension. This applies even if you are a member of a couple.
