Set on the edge of Swan Hill, near to the Murray River – the Alcheringa site is bordered by picturesque fruit growing country, dotted with stone fruit and citrus trees.
Located about 90kms from the Respect Cohuna site. Alcheringa is a modern facility built less than a decade ago.

Some single rooms have shared ensuites. Couples accommodation available. Two respite beds can be booked.
Two main ends – Sunnyside Lodge and Honeybee Lodge. The first is general housing that is divided into three wings. The second, contains the secure dementia units.
Our team consists of clinical staff and specialists including registered nurses and personal care assistants available on-call, 24 hours a day. A social care team deals with activities and therapy. Team members are passionate, caring and friendly and go above and beyond to build a genuine rapport with residents.

With attention to the complete health and wellbeing of our residents, the services we offer combine specialist care with quality of life. Beyond our standard care offerings, further services accommodate specific needs of residents.
Dedicated specialists like dieticians, podiatrists, optometrists and speech therapists make frequent visits, along with physiotherapists for mobility and pain management. Hairdressers come in weekly and are available by appointment.
Food & Diet
Healthy and balanced meal choices are prepared by a full-time chef throughout the week. On weekends, supporting chefs continue to prepare meals on-site. A variety of meals cater to resident’s preferences and dietary requirements, with Alcheringa having a distinct Mediterranean flair. The menu is updated twice a year, with a summer and winter menu. Fresh food arrives throughout the week and is coordinated through the Oscar Hospitality Program.
Activities & Excursions
Entertainment is coordinated by the leisure and lifestyle team who look after events and activities that are planned over a social calendar. Our proximity to the city centre means we’re quite involved in the community. Trips to nearby points of interest including art galleries are convenient with dedicated bus and vehicle options.

Basic Daily Fee
A daily care fee is used to contribute towards your day-to-day living costs such as meals, cleaning, laundry, heating and cooling. It is part of the overall fees you pay towards your care. The daily care fee increases on 20 March and 20 September each year in line with changes to the Age Pension.
The basic daily fee is 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension. From 20 September 2018, the single rate of the basic age pension is $834.40 per fortnight, making the basic daily fee (from 20 March to 19 September 2019):
$51.21 per day; or
$716.94 per fortnight
This amount is indexed with the age pension. This applies even if you are a member of a couple.
Means-tested Care Fee
A contribution to care fee is paid to the federal government where a person is in a financial position to do so. The cost (if any) of a person’s Contribution to Care Fee is dependent on their financial situation and is determined by the government. Please note the government have a lifetime cap on this fee.
